Faculty of Textiles in the international consortium AEQUALIS4TCLF

Project AEQUALIS4TCLF: Textile Faculty promotes equal opportunities in the textile and clothing industry

The Faculty of Textiles of the Technical University of Liberec is actively participating in the international project AEQUALIS4TCLF, which aims to raise awareness of the current state of the industry and the activities implemented to reduce environmental impact, to inform about the benefits of diversity in the work environment, to assist in the removal of discriminatory barriers, to expand training opportunities in line with the current needs of the industry. The project is implemented by a consortium of 21 partners from different European countries, which allows for a wide cooperation and exchange of experience.

In the AEQUALIS4TCLF project, the Faculty of Textiles is involved in the development of educational materials and methodologies to help educational institutions to effectively implement the necessary knowledge and skills into the offered study programmes and, by updating the educational offer, to increase the qualifications of selected experts and specialists working in the textile and clothing industry.

The needs analysis aimed at identifying the current requirements of the industry in the context of the implementation of the Green Deal and mapping the existing vocational training offered by secondary, higher vocational and higher education institutions focused mainly on competences related to sustainability and circular economy in the textile sector.

Following the results of this analysis, short-term training courses culminating in micro-certificates are being developed to expand the necessary competences not only in formal education. This will be followed by the development of learning materials, their pilot testing and final verification to make them fully usable in practice for selected target groups.

The promotion of cooperation and the expansion of partnerships in the TCLF sector is implemented not only through the organisation of expert webinars aimed at strengthening the Learning Alliances and the Skills Pact at regional level and across the participating EU countries. Representatives of educational institutions, companies active in the textile, clothing and leather industries, industry associations and federations, clusters, chambers of commerce contribute to the discussions. Feedback on these topics is also provided by regional policy representatives from the participating EU countries.

"Participation in the AEQUALIS4TCLF project represents an opportunity for us not only to contribute to solving current societal challenges, but also to strengthen our role as an institution actively promoting equal opportunities and inclusion in education and industry," says the Dean of the Faculty of Textiles.

During the duration of the project, which is funded by the Erasmus+ programme, the Faculty of Textiles participates in international workshops, conferences and cooperates with foreign experts from industry and education. The results of this cooperation will be continuously used to further develop educational activities, especially in lifelong non-formal education, as well as to strengthen cooperation between key institutions in the Czech Republic and selected EU countries.
